Wantage, Rachel's parents

Walking is good for solving problems - it's like the feet are little psychiatrists

White Horses

Very much in the family ramble bracket. Really relaxing weekend at Rachel’s parents, with a brief foray out to see the original White Horse.

Brecon Beacons, Penpont

As a nation we are dedicated to keeping physically fit - and parking as close to the stadium as possible

Funny Names

Another New Years trip to Penpont. A small stroll to a vantage point looking over the valley (and a meeting with Cookie and Mills) was our 1st small walk.

A second excursion took in Lord Herefords Knob (2231ft) although the weather restricted what should have been a fab view.

The rest of the time spent playing playstation, eating and drinking.

Lake District

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-three today and we don't know where the hell she is

Gambling in the hills

Day 1 was truly miserable weather, but we braved it to climb Catsbells. Good fun but very damp

Day 2 A walk to complete the set of highest Mountains in Scotland, England and Wales for the tour. Another perfect day found us bagging Scafell Pike (3210 ft). Lunch near the summit was accompanied by Fossie on his laptop placing his bets, its great work if you can get it.

In the evening Di made a guest appearance, she had been walking with friends elsewhere in the Lakes. Cookie, Dave E and Fossie managed a round or two of pitch and putt, largely distinguished by Cookies 1st shot sliced straight into the back of the hut where you paid.

New Forest, Hampshire

It is good to collect things; it is better to take walks

No Tavs on tour

Due to illness I missed this one. Details are second hand but I believe this one is largely remembered for Fossie and Di’s bickering and whisky drinking.

The walk was a ramble through the Forest and even took in a pub.

Gower Peninsula

To know the road ahead, ask those coming back

A great walk around some of the Gower coastline, taking in Three Cliffs and Oxwich bays. At Oxwich Di braved the water and went swimming.

A night out in Swansea is always entertaining. I remember a long wait for food and an interesting game of shove, shag, marry. Di, Fossie, Jackie and Rachel braved the Swansea club scene.

This was the tour on which Fossie and Di 1st met.
