Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet

It rains in Wales you know - the Bomber walk

A Tavs training walk in preparation for the 3 peaks challenge later this year. Dave H was enlisted as he knew the walk and we decided to do the bomber walk which takes in a crashed Wellington and a crashed Vulcan. As we neared the start, it started to rain.

No problem, on with the rain gear - except for Dave who having decided it was June turned up in shorts and no waterproof trousers. And the rain didn't stop. After an entertaining river crossing near the start, we trudged through the rain, left the path and headed straight across rough ground to find the first plane.

By the time we reached the crashed Wellington (surprising amount of debris and a memorial to the airmen who lost their lives), we were wet through. By this stage we had two waterproofs completely fail (along with Dave's legs) and this had ceased being fun. We headed past the large sink hole wherever the river disappeared (last time Paul and Dave were here, there wasn't a drop of water to be seen.

We decided to cut the walk short before somebody got hypothermia and headed back in a loop to join our route out. A rare photo was captured of Tav in the same shot as some horses. However the rain had turned the river into a raging torrent - our crossing point was completely submerged so a quick peek at the map found another route back to the valley and the (relative) dry refuge of the cars.

Probably the wettest Tavs Tours ever - and in June....Just over 14km in just under 4 hours
