Lake District, July 2005

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-three today and we don't know where the hell she is

Gambling in the hills

Day 1 was truly miserable weather, but we braved it to climb Catsbells. Good fun but very damp

Day 2 A walk to complete the set of highest Mountains in Scotland, England and Wales for the tour. Another perfect day found us bagging Scafell Pike (3210 ft). Lunch near the summit was accompanied by Fossie on his laptop placing his bets, its great work if you can get it.

In the evening Di made a guest appearance, she had been walking with friends elsewhere in the Lakes. Cookie, Dave E and Fossie managed a round or two of pitch and putt, largely distinguished by Cookies 1st shot sliced straight into the back of the hut where you paid.
