Where it all began, with an impromptu decision to go walking just 3 days before Christmas Day.

Fittingly for the time of year we woke to a light dusting of snow. The walk took us up Kinder Scout (2088ft), although the cloud closed in and views were limited.

The Sportsman proved a great pub, run by an eccentric and very camp gentleman. Food was great, and whisky selection excellent.
